About us

As lifelong friends  Richard  and  Spencer grew  up  together  in  Summit County, Colorado. Since the  young age of twelve they   have  been  building  dirt  jumps and trails  all over Montana, Colorado and the North West region. Now, twenty  years later with over forty  years of combined experience they have established one of Montana’s  premier  trail  building companies. Fueled from  the  love of biking and a passion for trails, their friendship has built and enhanced numerous trail networks in many communities.

Richard’s design  background fuels the build side of Integrated Trail LAB. With a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Design and a Masters Degree  in  Architecture,  Richard   is  an  expert   in   all aspects  of  trail building. With  the ability to conceptualize and design projects on paper and carry them out in the field, his well rounded background gives him the title of full-time dirt architect.

Spencer   has worked in the trades for   over   a  decade.  With   first  hand   experience and knowledge   in   most   every  area  of construction,   Spencer   has  a  wide   variety of  acquired  skills.   But  his  expertise  lies  in  carpentry.   Spencer   has   framed  and built many  houses   from  the ground  up. Including  concrete  and  foundations  to excavation  and dirt  work,   framing,   trim work,  cabinets  and   furniture. He   has  done it all. Spencer brings   precision  and accuracy  to  every  aspect of trail building.

Integrated Trail LAB  was formally  established 2017 in  Bozeman, MT. Now members of the “Professional Trail Builders Association” Integrated Trail LAB builds and designs bike parks, pump tracks, flow trails and multi-use trails for city municipalities, government entities, non-profit organizations and private land owners alike. With a passion for dirt jumps  and  pump tracks  Integrated Trail LAB has built the two largest city municipality dirt jump parks in the state of Montana. Bozeman’s Westlake Dirt Jump Park and Missoula’s Syringa Bike Park. Integrated Trail LAB also designed and built Montana’s largest and first public asphalt pump track in Big Sky, MT June 2024. Along with their experience building detailed dirt jump parks and pump tracks Richard and Spencer have built numerous flow trails. Ski resorts, non-profit organizations and private landowners have capitalized on their unique eye and creativity for building flow trails.  Including Spanish Peaks Mountain Resort, The City of Sandpoint Idaho and Big Sky Community Organization.  Our mission statement, “Building Communities Through Trails” explicitly describes our  passion and goal . To  build stronger and more robust  communities through a creative and enhanced trail network. Integrated Trail LAB will enhance your communities trail network by surpassing industry standards with their experience, dedication, and  creativity. As   the sport of mountain biking continues to progress and push trail design, it is key that the land owners and entities that fund these trail projects have similar mindsets along side the younger generation of trail builders and riders.
